Gabapentin (trade name:Neurontin) is an anti-seizure medication.

Anticonvulsants are used to treat seizure disorders (epilepsy). More recently, they have been used to treat neuropathic pain, anxiety and insomnia. The most commonly prescribed anticonvulsants for ME/CFS are Neurontin (generic: gabapentin), Gabitril, and Lyrica (pregabalin).

Neurontin was a favorite treatment of Dr. Goldstein's for his ME/CFS patients. He believed that Neurontin would reset the neurotransmitters in the  brains of ME/CFS and fibromyalgia patients. Dr. Teitelbaum prescribed it for insomnia.
