Lysine is an essential amino acid. Lysine is important in the creation of carnitine, which converts fatty acids into energy It also plays a role in absorbing calcium and helps the body form collagen, which aids in the growth and maintenance of bones and connective tissue. Lysine also halts herpesvirus replication. It is found in meat, beans, cheeses and eggs.
USES IN ME/CFS: Lysine can be used to reduce the frequency and severity of herpetic mouth ulcers and canker sores.

I started having weekly severe (9) choking like bilateral chin and lymph pain. Drs found a short course of steroids relieved this for me. This experiment worked quickly but pain began to each build again each day - until my 4th dose on day 4. No side effects taking 5 500mg capsules. I recieve med care at IU Hospital in Carmel Indiana There is not a Dr here that knows how to approach this. ME scares MDs because of not being educated.
